- Gather all materials needed to take and record all measurements.
- Draw a rough layout of your room that you can record the measurements on.
- Pick a starting point, then work clockwise around the space, being care not to miss any relevant details.
- Make sure to record all measurements to the nearest 1/8″.
- Note location and size of any windows or other openings.
- Note the location and size of an obstacles.
- Note the appliances and their location.
- Make note of any accessories and their location.
